Welcome to Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd. (DPDC) website. The site portrays company's performance, overall achievements, and the relevant important information of the company. The company was incorporated as public limited company on 25 October, 2005 and it started functioning from 14 May, 2007. Later, the company had taken over the distribution management system from the then DESA on 30 June 2008 (midnight).
Country's economy, development and socio-cultural advancement are directly dependent on electricity. DPDC distributes power among the customers of the major portion of Dhaka Metropolitan City and Narayangonj area. It has passed its eight years of operation successfully and reduced the system loss from 18.05% to 8.97% in this time. DPDC reaches to 10,42,000 customers by October, 2016. DPDC's vision is geared towards elevating customer satisfaction level through reliable and quality electricity supply and excellent service with its limited resources.
In its effort to enhance service delivery to its customers, DPDC has adopted multidimensional measures like; On-line complaint addressing system to attend customer complaints within shortest possible time; on-line new connection procedure; Pre-Payment Metering System, decentralization of the billing system with central monitoring; Opening of Bank booths in NOCS premises; On-line bill payment, Bill payment through SMS, Grameenphone bill pay centers and through mobile phone; simplification of new connection procedure; Issuing bill clearance certificate every year etc.
DPDC is the pioneer in introducing remote metering (cellular SIM installed in the meter sending reading and other information) to upgrade the billing management activity. Also to simplify the consumer billing and its payment/collection and to establish transparency in revenue earning, DPDC is planning to bring in all the consumers (of domestic and commercial category) under prepaid metering system. Already sixteen thousand prepaid meter has been installed and all domestic and commercial customers will come under pre payment metering system by 2021. DPDC is also upgrading the distribution network to accommodate additional system capacity of 1344 MW at 132 KV level and 1064 MW at 33 KV level with in 2017. DPDC has also taken a plan to increase its system capacity of 4200 MW at 132 KV level and 3689 MW at 33 KV level during the year 2018 to 2025. As a result total system capacity will be 7473 MW at 132 KV level and 6858 MW at 33 KV level by the year 2025.
Power Division and DPDC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 17 numbers Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) under result-based management system for monitoring and regulating commercial & financial activities, technical standards, quality customer service, reliable power supply, human resources development, this MoU guides it effectively to become a financially viable company. During the year, DPDC has obtained 94.00 marks out of 100 of the said KPIs due to the honest, efficient and positive attitude of the management and employees.
